Oh, to be King… or Queen. Trust me, being a princess is something every girl dreams about. I would know. And we have Disney to blame for that. A crown is a symbol of royal status, timelessness, and all things … Continue reading
Labor Day is the official end of summer for most people. Time to retire your white fashions and beachwear. I don’t really share the same sentiment knowing that it will be 100 degrees until November. In a way, my summer … Continue reading
My husband and I had a pretty low-key weekend. It’s really been a hot summer so far for us here in Scottsdale, so we’ve been doing a lot of indoor activities. We love driving around and exploring, and so we … Continue reading
The great thing about 4th of July decorations, is that they don’t necessarily have to be boxed up right after the holiday. I’m not saying I’d leave out every star and stripe all year long, but something like a custom-made … Continue reading
It’s another gorgeous and unbearably hot day in Scottsdale! How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?
I’m always looking for new ways to decorate, especially non-permanent ways. I’m a renter!
Some of you may be familiar with Shanna Murray; I came across her decals at my local “treasure chest”, FOUND. in Mesa. Once I laid eyes on the beautiful display in the front of the store, I was hooked. And don’t be thrown by the word, decal. Typical live, laugh, love; Shanna Murray is not. These products take a beautiful, simple, and fresh approach to home embellishment. Her decals can be used on walls, paper, chalkboards etc. VERSATILITY!
I purchased two…
Take a look at her full collection of designs and colors.
HOW TO: DON’T BE AFRAID, JUST TAKE YOUR TIME
Such beautiful sentiments inside these little cylinders. Application is fairly simple, but it does take some patience. I just took the backing off first, then applied gradually from left to right. I made sure to use the supplied tool to evenly rub on, the decal. Once applied, I slowly and carefully removed the top paper.
They make the place THAT much more cozy.
You know, If I could, I would buy a ton of Shanna Murray decals for every room. That would break the bank. After all was said and done, I was so inspired to play around with making some DIY decals! I had some full sheets of self adhering shipping slips, scissors, an x-acto knife, a role of brown paper, Paint(computer program), and a printer. This was all I needed to continue my decal decorating.
I’m sure there are nicer and more fancy ways to make your own stickers, but this way gets the job done.
1. I created a couple of simple wreath motifs on Paint.
2. Since my printer doesn’t print in white(or, at least, I don’t know how to make it do so) I made the background a light grey and then changed the black wreath to white.
3. I printed my work out and started cutting… 10 hours later I finished, JUST KIDDING! But it did take awhile.
4. I rolled out the brown paper, then carefully removed the backing of the paper to expose the sticky side. Then I stuck them on!
They don’t hold a candle to Shanna Murray products, but it was a fun project and they came out nicely… at least my husband says so. This way, there are also no limitations on what you can do.
Are you going to try making some of your own decals, and integrate in some Shanna Murray decals, too?

MY LITTLE LAUNDRY HELPER SAY HI!
I HOPE YOU ENJOYED THIS POST!
This week brings some creative Fourth of July fun!
Until really soon,
I have a special appreciation for stationery, letterpress, and vintage postcards. These simple paper items can: make a desk complete, send happiness in the form of a greeting card, decorate a room, serve as a hub for the next best idea, or announce the most important day in a person’s life. The variety of uses is endless, I tell ya!
With our lives run by smart phones and online-everything, the days of snail mail and hardcover books may soon be – OVER. I do hope things like: the invitation, birthday card, notebook, and letterpress prints will never be forced into retirement by modern technology.
I’m all for reducing the use of paper in most cases and I recycle everything I can, but I love the idea of always having stationery and such tangible novelties – as the standard.
Haha, now that I’ve poured out my heart and soul, allow me to share with you, those who do paper so well…
I used minted.com for my first and second wedding invitations. [If this confuses you, please refer to the “About” section for clarification.] They do a beautiful job, and you receive a gorgeous online proof before your order is processed. As far as price, I’d give it 3 out of 5 dollar signs. I’ve certainly heard of couples spending a significant amount more on invitations, with no avail.

EVERYTHING I SAID ABOUT MINTED, GOES FOR HELLO LUCKY. BEAUTIFUL THICK CARD STOCK. WONDERFUL.
Anthro is good for so many things; this includes paper goods. I found these charming recipe cards on clearance. Now I just have to fill them with the secrets to some delicious dishes.
Based out of Roswell, GA, Sugarboo Designs has made it’s mark in the paper world, with unique spins on basic paper goods. Black and White. Comfort. Classic. The “100 Gathered Thoughts” notepad and tiny quirky greeting cards, are just two examples of the company’s innovation. I LOVE their products!
It’s difficult to replicate the charm of S.A.V.V.Y. post/greeting cards. I love to read the messages and to see when they were sent. There’s something so warm and heartfelt about a handwritten hello. It’s so interesting to see the basic subject matter of these notes. Sometimes it’s easy to forget, there were no iPhones 100 years ago 🙂
I KNOW I’VE SHOWN THIS BEFORE, BUT I JUST WANTED TO INCLUDE THIS GREAT LOCAL(Phoenix, AZ) LETTERPRESS COMPANY
THIS WAS PRINTED ON A VINTAGE PRESS
